Pierce said that he did not take good care of Lillard joining the Heat. “Don’t forget, the heat is a play-off team. If we only got Lillard, the Heat could not rush out of the first round. Lillard + Butler + Adebayor’s lineup will lose depth. If they weaken the team in order to introduce Lillard, they may not be able to enter the playoffs or be out in the first round.” Pierce explained.
The Heat entered the finals in the 22-23 season as a play-off team.
