Former Celtics champion guard Kassel joined marzula’s coaching team this year. Recently, he was interviewed.
Speaking of his return to Celtics, he said: “Mazura made all this a reality. He has seen me train with several players before and wants to know my personality and how I connect with the players. He contacted some of our mutual friends and I came.”
Speaking of his coaching style, he said: “I am very honest with the players, man. Sometimes they don’t like this, but what I told them is true. I discussed the game plan with the head coach and told them the expectations of the head coach. Sometimes players don’t want to accept this, but I think I have a way to communicate, which can be 100% honest with players and will not make them think it is personal to them. I know I have this characteristic.”
“I am an excellent player listener; I am an ex-player, so I understand what they are going through. As I have always told them, I used to be every player in the team, from the number one player to the number 15 player. I am those people. I understand the mental journey of those people.”
